Remember That Time...

…I posted here multiple times a day? And then Tumblr happened and I abandoned LJ/DW because, you know, there was no one around and clearly Tumblr was the Way Of The Future (Of Fandom) and, you know what? Tumblr fucking sucks. My dash is curated down to only chill fandom people, so the drama of the rest of Tumblr doesn’t really touch me, but fandom has changed so much from Ye Olden Times that, idk. I hate it.

But I don’t know that I remember how to do this, either.

So, you know, I guess I’m gonna try to remember to post here and comment here and, idk, see if I can regain some of that old fandom feeling that I miss. (Probably not.) Oh god, is this how I know I’m getting old? I’m talking about the good ol’ days and missing platforms gone by and-

So! What fandoms are everyone into these days?

I'm in a fandom neutral zone at the moment, but basically I'm just bearing down until Civil War comes out and destroys me 12 ways to Sunday for the next two years. I use DW more for personal stuff than anything else, though (I will never stop needing journaling and talking out my shit with friends under lock and filter), so that's largely what's helped me keep engaged with it. I know that's not everybody's speed, but though I would love to see fandom return to journaling sites, I'm more under the impression that we're just waiting for something less shitty than Tumblr to emerge.

HIIIII Tumblr is the worst for almost everything, it's true.

I am just getting back into fandom after ages. Mostly I am all about Star Wars and Dragon Age and Mass Effect at the moment, but I am up for talking about many other things as well.

Hamilton for the squee and music recs, Night Vale for the canon and the fic, (highly filtered) MCU fanfic for the quality fiction without the bat guano, and I'm enjoying some of the Harry Potter revival.

Plus whatever my friends happen to be writing.

The Flash, because it's lolzy trash that delights me. It's not srs business even when there are major bad things happening and the characters actually smile. Like a lot. It's just plain fun.

I scroll through some Tumblr every few days and must agree. I post next to nothing of my own opinions there outside of fashion history (my fashion history Tumblr is 50% my opinions of how other people have dated dresses ...), just reblog reblog reblog of puppies and Andy Samberg and things.

I do mostly history stuff these days, and I don't consider myself to be in any fandoms proper (I define fandom involvement pretty high because of what I did in HP). Well, except HP. But I'm sort of lightly in Brooklyn 99 fandom, happy about Star Wars, etc.

I post like every day because I have no life. :'D

Cheeky Tumblr, just tumbling along and being thoroughly useless. I tried the tumbl too, but it's not good for blogging, so I just look at random pictures and do nothing with it.

And as usual, I don't "fandom" anything. I just watch movies and nod sagely. And drink gin. Nothing changes. ;-)

Hi there! My fandom participation is pretty much limited to Yuletide these days, although I dream of making a comeback some day. I've mostly managed to avoid the toxic side of Tumblr but I like it as a scrapbook, not as a fandom platform.
