It occurred to me that I need to be keeping a list of comics I'm reading so I don't forget any. Like I already have.

Ultimate X-Men
Ultimate Spiderman
Rabbit Doubt
Deadman Wonderland
Pluto
Fables
Desolation Jones
The Walking Dead

More to be added as I read more/remember which ones I need to catch up on.

ETA: What kind of stupid site won't let you date an entry as 3008? >:O

I had to use a combination of Avidemux and Cinelerra because I was too impatient to figure out how to clip shit in Cinelerra, but after a couple hours of fucking around yesterday, I made this. Which just makes me lol and lol and lol every time that I watch it.

It took three days (because I could only work on it for a couple hours each day), but I finally finished the laptop bag I was making. I fucked around with the Ashley pattern here to make it big enough (and a couple minor alterations to take into account that I was using 2½" strips) and used about half of a package of Berry Bliss Bali Pops.

Check out how awesome this shit is. )

NGL INTERNET, I LOVE IT A LOT. SO MUCH THAT I WILL EVEN CARRY IT AROUND WITH ME IN PUBLIC. The colors are fucking awesome and if I'd put more thought into it instead of just throwing shit together, I could have made it look like a pond scene, going from muck to sky. Which, uh, I did do on the inner pockets, but I am too lazy to take pictures of those. Also, one of the pockets is big enough to hold straight knitting needles, and a couple of the smaller pockets are for DPNs and basically, it is great.

Also, I've answered a bunch of the headcanon meme comments! Parker, Bucky, Richard, Luke Cage, and that clip from Smokin' Aces.

OKAY COMPANY HERE TIME TO GO.

1. Coyotes
2. Deer
3. Mountain lions
4. Black bears

Two of those are normal, two of those are because I'm living up north. :D WELL THIS IS EXCELLENT!

Also the neighborguy says I can use his grill whenever I like. :D

Parker becomes Sharker!

Budget Cuts >:(

My high school is probably closing because of state budget cuts.

Yeah, let's cut budgets for schools, Massachusetts.

My continuing misadventures.

So, the dog has a crate, even though he's not crate trained and, in fact, doesn't really understand "we don't pee on our bed" <-- THIS DETAIL IS IMPORTANT. It was lined with a "sample of real floor carpet".

Man, now it's a "sample of why we don't put real floors into the washing machine" :(

I feel like Dan :(

Last night I accidentally slept on a Cadbury egg.

Let me tell you, they do not hatch into anything nice. :(

Moving!

Guess who has a new apartment? :D It's an hour west of Boston, so I guess I'm no longer a Boston!mouse :( But it's nice and in the middle of nowhere and pretty awesome.

I'm moving all the big stuff on April 5, and I'll slowly move the rest of my stuff over in the weeks between then and May 1. I'm sure Robin will be ecstatic because he'll no longer be in the city. And I'll be ecstatic because I'll no longer be in the city. And Murphy won't give a rat's ass, because he'll still be an indoor cat.

For the first time in my life I'm not going to have to deal with living with anyone, and it's going to be awesome.

Killing time until work.

The problem is, I'm not comfortable with being directionless.

I need to have a plan for my life. Before, it was a pretty simple plan:
1) Never move out of my apartment
2) Go to school and get a degree in CS
3) After graduation, get a job in CS

That is the sort of plan I need to have. And now, now I'm floundering. I have no idea where I'm going to live, and my parents don't understand why "Well you can move back home if you need to" isn't helpful. That's a contingency plan, but it's not a plan.

I'm going to jump on this apartment I'm going to see tomorrow, provided it isn't horrible. I have enough money to make six month's rent there, probably. That way, I won't be panicking over #1 on my list anymore.

I may be looking for a job right now, but even if I get one, I don't know what I'm going to do. And I am so very much not comfortable with this.

I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] tl__dr today, which is always A+++++. She bought me a book because she is the loveliest friend! And we went back to her apartment and had an A+ chat about stuff.

All in all, this was an A+ day.

Oh self, why do you love such shitty books.

I just finished Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews, and I'm all pissed off that 1) there's no third book until the 31st, and 2) there's no fic.

I forgot how much reading books makes me want fic. It's completely different from my desire for fic from TV shows.

But seriously, my pros and cons list for this book (unofficially titled "Things I Like In Books" and "Things I Don't Like In Books") look like this:

Pros
-Pegging major
-A+ 'ship, even if it's not pegging major/faily guy
-MERCENARY

Cons
-sexism
-shapeshifters
-vampires

And basically, everyone should be reading these books and writing me awesome Kate/Curran fic. IDEK YOU GUYS IDEK.

So yeah, about that school thing?

I'm taking medical leave. I made the decision today. We'll see where it goes from here.

I'm distracting myself be working on a totally awesome PWP Pepper/Tony fic. A+ coping skills there, self.

(It's amazing, btw.)

Watchmen

Wow, Snyder, way to fuck up a brilliant comic.

Spoilers )

That said, I guess I enjoyed it. I left feeling underwhelmed, and got more and more angry about it as the hours passed by, then got less and less angry. Now I'm left thinking about the Rorschach/Dan/Laurie AU I always say I'm going to write and never do.

Maybe this time I'll actually do it.

ETA: And holy mother of god the soundtrack. While he was clearly trying to go with a song that played the opposite emotion of whatever was onscreen, he just failed epicly with the actual music choices. Fucking Snyder.

I'm so tired I could die.

I'm going to go see Watchmen tomorrow morning, in Imax, at 11:30. In the morning.

Whyyyyyyyy do I do these things to myself?

So I'm watching Reaper. God, I love this show, and I need to get more people to watch it.

Watching ReGenesis

the_wanlorn: The Doubtful Guest (Default)
So, someone recced ReGenesis to me, which is A+ because I never hear about Canadian TV and this makes, like, a million Canadian TV shows that were made just for me.

But I'm on episode 1x03 and I'm pretty sure they just refrigerated their only non-white character. I mean, their only non-white character is definitely dead. I'm just not sure about refrigeration status.

Basically, what I am saying is, damn it I loved her. :(

Everyone should go check out The Kransky Sisters. I don't even know why I haven't heard of them before now, because they are amazing. I pretty much die of lolz at every vid.

PS, I'm sick in Loltimore. But I have jellybeans so it's okay.

PPS, Coraline has a severe pacing problem. Man, someone needs to beat Gaiman with a hammer every time he tries to write a kidlit book. He just doesn't have the pacing skills for it.

MICHAEL: One evening, a patient was brought into my clinic in the middle of the night. He was tortured so badly I couldn’t believe he was still breathing. A man was with him. It was the man on your radio. I’ll never forget the voice. He put a gun to my head and explained to me that my patient had robbed him and that he wanted me to save him so the pain would last longer. I did what I could. He said to come here for my money — my blood money. There’s a place between life and death. Amazing how long a man can linger there.
PRESCOTT: That’s enough, all right? Okay. Bring everything upstairs. We’re getting out of here. Tony? Tony, can you hear me?
THUG: What the hell is going on?
MICHAEL: I know this guy. He’ll have people outside the bank, in your truck, and on your boat. You have no idea who you’re dealing with.
