Fandom Appreciation Challenge: Day 1

Fuck yeah, internet! The Fandom Appreciation Challenge has rolled around again! :D

DAY 1: Rec 3 challenge stories or fanworks in your journal.

This was shockingly difficult, because I don't mark fic on my delicious was being from a challenge. I should really rectify that. I am trying to avoid popular fandoms (uh, for a given value of popular, because let's face it, while I read a shit load of fic in popular fandoms, it's nothing I'd rec, and for the less popular fandoms that I'd rec stuff from, it's still not fair because there are still a lot of people in those fandoms comparitively and I totally lost my train of thought here.)

Friend is Four Letter Word by [personal profile] tokenblkgirl (Being Human, Annie/George/Mitchell, NC17). Written for Porn Battle IX.
I really like [personal profile] tokenblkgirl's Being Human fic! This one is great, with just the right amount of "this is such a horrible idea D:" from George, and Annie and Mitchell laughing at him, and there's a lot of banter, and it's just a great fic.

Lovelace and Babbage vs. The Christmas Death Spider From Beyond The Atlantic by nextian (The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage, gen, G). Written for Yuletide '09.
The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage is fucking hilarious, and so is this fic. It manages to capture the non-dialogue elements of the comic perfectly, and involves Andrew Jackson riding a giant mechanical death spider. Also, Brunel is in it. And the Queen. Seriously. Fucking hilarious.

Silly Love Songs by [personal profile] athousandwinds (Singin' in the Rain, Don/Cosmo/Kathy, NC17). Written for Porn Battle VIII
The end is what makes this fic for me. Seriously, [personal profile] athousandwinds wrote my favorite favorite favorite trope(?) for OT3s where two of them were already a couple. It's an adorable fic, one that I didn't even realize that I desperately wanted until I read it.

Dear Santa,

Hi! Hi!! :D!

So, as I'm sure you know, you are awesome, and I am easy to please, as those two things have been in every single yuletide letter I have read this year, regardless of how true the two statements are. LUCKILY FOR YOU: They both appear to be true in this case!

Really, so long as you stay away from unhappy endings, we'll get along fine. That's my only hardcore, I'll fuck you up sorta squick. Underage sex is pretty gross, too.

Things I am not overly fond of: can I totally harsh your buzz and put sex scenes here? Because, while I don't mind them, I tend to skim them. I'm also not a fan of hardcore kink in fic. Cheating just makes me hate the character. Present tense. First person. Second person. All-dialogue fic.

Things I totally fucking love: anything with a "the myth was greater than the man" feel (see: the ending of Luke Cage: Noir. Crappy fic cliches/tropes, especially h/c. Mega huge shitpiles of angst with equally megahuge shitpiles of a happy ending. People being absofuckinglutely adorable. Banter. I fucking love banter. And gentle "lol you're a moron but ilu anyway" trolling. And, uh, not so gentle "lol you're a moron but ilu anyway" trolling.

In general, I love gen just as much as I love pairing fic. Especially if the gen has lots of banter. And lolz. Banter and lolz are my bread and butter.

Also, I don't actually care if you stick to the lameass prompts I gave. I just didn't want to be an asshole and not give any prompts.

Specific requests! )

And that's it! I hope I gave you enough additional info.

MICHAEL: One evening, a patient was brought into my clinic in the middle of the night. He was tortured so badly I couldn’t believe he was still breathing. A man was with him. It was the man on your radio. I’ll never forget the voice. He put a gun to my head and explained to me that my patient had robbed him and that he wanted me to save him so the pain would last longer. I did what I could. He said to come here for my money — my blood money. There’s a place between life and death. Amazing how long a man can linger there.
PRESCOTT: That’s enough, all right? Okay. Bring everything upstairs. We’re getting out of here. Tony? Tony, can you hear me?
THUG: What the hell is going on?
MICHAEL: I know this guy. He’ll have people outside the bank, in your truck, and on your boat. You have no idea who you’re dealing with.
