Aw SHIT

I think I've hit IT.

The big Insomniacer's IT.

For those of you who are frequent insomniacs, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

For those of you that aren't, allow me to enlighten you:
IT (ih-t) is what comes after X amount of nights of insomnia*. Obviously, the X varies for every person. It's when your body simply can't take it anymore and shuts down totally and completely for upwards of 18 hours.

Symptoms:
You have a raging headache that doesn't go away no matter what you do. You take off glasses/take out contacts. Get coldpacks, hotpacks, lukewarmpacks. Take mounds and mounds of your favorite painkiller. You even "sleep" (or whatever passes for sleep for you) and it doesn't go away (note to self: sleep makes stuff go away. You have 10 minutes. Discuss!). And it's not quite a migraine, cuz it doesn't feel like a migraine.

Your entire body hurts. Muscles, joints, skin, appendages, eyes, ears, nose mouth throat etc. Something's crawling over your skin, but you can't see the blasted thing. Your eyes are gritty, buggy, dried out. Your muscles and shit feel like you have the flu (come on, y'all know that bone-deep ache that doesn't go away till you're better).

Your eyes water for no apparent reason.

You're tired as fuck and can't quite think straight. Or read right. Except you fight going to bed cuz, well, you're not going to wake up for forever and you know it deep down inside.

Treatment and Relief:
You go to bed eventually. And sleep. And nothing can wake you up. At least, not that you remember. You may be coherent enough to tell your family to fuck off when they try to wake you up, or to smash an alarm clock or three. But you're sure as shit not going to remember it when you wake up.

And when you wake up, you feel better. Magically. And for a couple days, it's allllllllll good, and then you stop sleeping again.

Damn, is it fun.

*I'm not talking hardcore "I literally haven't gone to bed at all tonight insomnia. I mean your average, run-of-the-mill insomnia. That is, you lie down, lights all out, covered up in a blanky, eyes closed and one of two things happens. You drift in a hazy, semi-sleep, like those couple seconds before you wake up when you know you're awake or almost awake, but you can't quite seem to move. Or, you zonk out and then wake up the next morning... feeling as if you haven't slept at all. Even though there's a large space of time, even dream-filled time, where you had to've been asleep. Either that, or blacked out, and doesn't that only happen when you're drink or fucked up?
