Certain Types of People Bother Me
I'm fairly certain that no one annoys me more thoroughly than Helpless Women.
You know the type. They have to rely on a man for everything. And I do mean everything. If they aren't hanging off the arm of some guy, they're acting incapable and pitiful in hopes of getting one.
These are the girls who would rather wait around for a guy, any guy, to come fix a setting for them than have a friend explain to them how to do it for themselves. The girls who act like they can't do anything for themselves, who can't go two minutes without having a boyfriend of some sorts, who can't understand the concept of not being interested in a guy who's interested in you because every girl needs a man to be complete!1!!one!!
Grow a fucking backbone.
It's nice to be needed, I admit that. You can't be The Strong One without understanding that it's nice to be needed. However. There's a difference between letting people do things for you and refusing to do things for yourself. I suppose that if there's a guy right there, then it's understandable. But when you're on your own and you're going to, say, wait a week for a guy to come over to change your LJ from screening comments to not screening comments when you could easily be walked through the process... there's something wrong there.
I suppose that, to some extent, it's something I'll never understand. I was raised to be completely independent, to the point where I have to work to remember that it's okay for me to need people, too. But I don't think that I'm wrong in thinking that there are some women who take it much too far.
What's going to happen to these people when there's no guys around to take care of them? How are they going to survive without anyone to do every. Little. Thing. For them?
More importantly, how can they live with themselves knowing that they aren't self-sufficient in any way? I suppose that's the part that I truly don't understand. How can people go about life without doing anything for themselves?
Again, I will never understand this total and complete helplessness that these girls project. Also, I won't be able to dredge up any sympathy for those people who choose to be like this. None, at all. I've used up all my latent stores, I've wasted all my "Okay, this isn't directly related, so..." sympathy. I just can't do it any more.
