Mail from Colleges
People are receiving their housing assignments. Which mean mine will be here soon yay! I hope I A) Get a room in... uh... that building that I wanted... and B) get roommates that have LJs. So that I can go snoop through their past entries and figure out what sort of people I'll be On the other hand, I was supposed to get some sort of confirmation package in the mail about orientation. Like, two weeks ago, apparently. Guess who never got it? Yeah. Me. Fuck. So I just shot off an email asking about it. I figure it's one of two things. The CowTown post office has lost/not delivered mail for us before. As in, perfectly addressed mail. It sometimes shows up months later or we have to go down and say "I was supposed to receive X in the mail Y weeks ago. Is there any chance it's hanging around here forgotten in a corner or something?" and then they go find it for us. I hesitate to ask if it's all that hard to sort mail and put it in the correct boxes. I mean, for all I know, it is when you're doing it all day. But really! Second thing is that the fuckers at NEU might've (and probably, since this happens far more often) addressed it wrong. Here's a quick lesson for y'all. When an address is as follows: Erin McLaughlin PO Box 666 666 Devil's Lane Cowtown, MA 00666-0666* It is not okay to leave off the PO box. Mail doesn't get delivered if you try to send it to someone without a mailbox next to their newspaper box. Sending something for me to "666 Devil's Lane/Cowtown, MA/0066-0666" is the same thing as saying "Please don't deliver this Mr. Postman. You can return it to sender or not**, but make sure that the only way the recipient will ever find out about it is through a friend. Thank you!" In conclusion, I hate post offices and I hate large orginizations that send me mail. But Mum's going down now to see if there's anything for me in there. *crosses fingers* *Address changed to protect the innocent. **A lot of MassAcademy mail got lost that way. Either they didn't bother sending it back to MassAcademy or MassAcademy didn't give a rat's ass that all the mail they were sending to me was being returned to them. Luckily, that was sorted out. |

Which is a really tricky thing to say, I suppose, since who gets to determine the right pause between one word and the next?
OH GODS STOP ME FROM OVERTHINKING THIS
