This is why I suck at that game.

I have seen an obscene number of Kevin Bacon movies without ever. Knowing. Who. He was.

But it's okay! Cuz I know now! Stop looking at me like that...

Okay, so. Let's pretend - for some absolutely insane reason, like I spent a good portion of Batman Begins only half paying attention as I plotted this in my head - I was going to write a Batman/Lovecraft crossover.

Can someone give me a list of comics that'll give me a good grip on comic-canon Arkham Asylum?

And I suppose a good, detailed site where I can brush up on my Lovecraft mythos would be nice, too.

Thanks dudes!

I recommend "Batman: Shadow of the Bat" issue #1 collector's set.
It includes a (cheesy) 3-D popup of Arkham, and (this is why I recommend this issue) blueprints of Arkham. If you can't find this issue anywhere let me know and I'll scan in the blueprints and send 'em to ya. Also get issues #2-4 to complete the story arc.

There is also a graphic novel titled "Batman: Arkham Asylum" in which the story takes place almost entirely inside Arkham's walls.

Other than that, I don't know where to tell you to look for detailed stories about Arkham... since all the Batman titles crossover so much the storyline is all one big jumble for me. I can, however, give you a list of Bat-titles.

1. Detective Comics
2. Batman
3. Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight
4. Batman: Shadows of the Bat
5. Robin (a few major and lots of minor tie-ins)
6. Catwoman (mostly minor tie-ins)
7. Azrael (a few good tie-ins)
8. Nightwing (a few minor tie-ins)

Hope this helps.

Oh, and a few more Bat-related comic titles that have come into being since I stopped subscribing...

Batman: Gotham Knights
Gotham Central
Batgirl

I've not read any of these, so I don't know if they are any good or not.

Arkham Asylum: Living Hell takes place inside of Arkham. It's not really a Batman book although (if memory serves) he does appear. But it's a very dark look at life on the inside. (Um..did I even need to mention that it was dark?)
