A long update

Rent
Whenever I listen to Rent, I go into it thinking about all the upbeat, catchy songs in the first half and how happy they make me cuz, well, they're catchy! And upbeat! And full of life!

Then I get to the second half. Starting with "Seasons of Love" it's just... not upbeat anymore. It's like, "WTF, Rent, WTF. *sob*". What is it with this seeming rule of musicals that the first half has to be all happy and the second half has to make me cry? NOT. COOL.

JournalFen
They have some of the best "site is down" messages ever.

"Sorry

We're currently working on something. The site will be back up
shortly, unless we're the victims of eco-terrorists, a madman bent on
world cyber domination or our own cavalier ideas of stickin' it to the
man; in which case it could be just a tad longer."

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE GOOD THINGS
Here we have [livejournal.com profile] city_glitter, who makes a post about how some guy set her cat on fire. She makes a handful more posts, asking for donations for the vet bill, estimated to reach $5K. Tons of good-hearted folks donate.

[livejournal.com profile] foxfur thinks something is wrong. It's a damn good post, well-thoughtout and well-researched.

[livejournal.com profile] city_glitter admits that it was all a big fat lie to "restore her father's faith in humanity" and that she "excepted everyone to believe [livejournal.com profile] foxfur".

Um, what? Do I really need to list the things WRONG and ILLEGAL with this?? Good job, bitch. Your father's faith in humanity was restored at the cost of how many other people's? And how many people who actually need money for something like that aren't going to get it now because people heard about this shit? I seriously hope that enough people are reporting, documenting, saving, and whatever else so her ass can get... something. Can she be arrested for that?

Lesson to be learned: Don't give money if they don't provide pictures (that it doesn't take you two seconds to google up), news articles, or a number to call (such as the vet's number in this case) to verify that they're not lying their ass off just to get money.

Jesus fucking christ.

Remember that time some bombs went off in London?
[livejournal.com profile] metaquotes has been full of things-went-'splodey-in-London posts today. Most people are greatful for the humor. I mean, how many people do you know who don't joke about bad things happening to them so they don't freak out?

However someone - a Floridian, no less - flips her shit on one of the posts and calls people rude, heartless bastards for making light of the situation. I talking something that goes on for 700+ comments.

Huh. Apparently she's started deleting comments. It's [livejournal.com profile] brn_eyd_grl. An oft-repeated reply by her is "I'm done. You people do not appreciate anything. Have fun making fun of and mocking that which is tragic and those who are dead. Buh-bye!" *scrolls through* Fuck, she appears to be deleting all of her slightly more coherent posts that made it questionable whether or not she was a troll. Now she just looks like a gorram troll.

Anyway. Apparently, all humor is BANHAMMERED, according to her, because it's "TOO SOON". I had a sort of pissed off response to this involving assimilation, Borgs, Stupid Americans, Emo Americans, Drama Queen/King Americans, and Why Can't We All Be More Like The Brits. But... in rereading what's left... it's actually really really amusing. I mean, check out all of [livejournal.com profile] arikatt's flame war pictures. Hee hee hee. This is possibly the most amusing one. All the most common insults rolled into one!

Box sets cost a hella lot
So, I was debating this morning over whether I wanted the Firefly series on DVD (which I already have shitty downloads of on my computer), or season one of Farscape (which I've never seen, thus severly hindering my acceptance into the Rabid Farscape Fangirl club). Eventually, I got up the bright idea to go check their prices online.

Season one of Farscape? THREE TIMES more expensive than ALL of Firefly. And it's less than TWICE the episodes. 22 vs. 13 (14 if you count the 2-hour pilot as two).

Dude. So not cool.

In other news, assuming B&N doesn't suck balls, I'll own sexy copies of Firefly by sometime tomorrow.

Okay, yeah. I'm going to go back to reading V for Vendetta now. Bye all!
