Why, I daresay, it is time for a Christmas loot post! I have an odd fasination with knowing what people got for holidays and birthdays, so clearly the world wants to know what I got!
The candy's a good place to start. I dumped out my stocking to find lots of Hebert chocolates, peeps, rock candy, and...
Wait for it... wait for it...
Maple sugar candy!!!
If you have never experienced the joy that is a solid piece of maple sugar melting in your mouth, then I feel sorry for you. I truly do. And if you've experienced it and don't think it is the most heavenly candy on Earth, well... I don't know what to say to that. Other than that you are clearly no friend of mine. ;-)
How about cooking stuff, then? My mum saw fit to gift me with a set of measuring cups that are better than my own set. Which is keeping with the family belief that you need at least two sets of measuring cups, in case you need something like a cup of milk before a cup of sugar. And last night? My darling sister gave me an electric skillet! Holy crap you would not believe the amount of things you can cook in an electric skillet.
Let's not forget the TransSiberian Orchestra CD, Beethoven's Last Night. I've already managed to pretty much destroy the case by dropping it.
And the Christmas movies! Oh the Christmas movies! They're in a gorgeous "book" that I almost want to take back to school with me instead of just putting them in my binder. It has Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, and The Little Drummer Boy. Plus a CD of music from the movies. We'll have Christmas movies to watch next year, Jess!
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without books for me! A Norman Rockwell Christmass has some beautiful pictures in it. I got another translation of Grimm's Fairy Tales with the rough edges that I like to much. Then there's Dean Koontz's second Frankenstein book. It's all topped off with a copy of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and The Good Old Days - They Were Terrible!.
Lastly were the games. There was a cute version of magnetic hangman. And then, in awesome wooden boxes, Risk and the Apples to Apples party crate. Yessss. I can't wait to harrass people in the suite into playing with me.
Alrighty then. I think Mum finished baking the cinnamon buns out there. It's time for a Christmas breakfast feast!
Oh man, I can't wait until I'm on my own and can do my own Christmas stuff.
Update: The cinnamon rolls were delicious. I think I might have to steal the recipe and some cash for the ingredients so I can make them myself when I go back to school.
woah i like the loot... and no worries I won't need any harrassing into playing games
I'll post my loot list on my lj in a bit and my goodness I need to fill you in on the christmas mayhem that is my family (it will all culminate tomorrow with the two hour drive to lancaster with four children/babies, a step-sister, 10 over zealous adults and myself. I want to cry about it...
anywhoo to much to write so I am going to torture you some time this week with a phone call
Can't wait to see ya, now that x-mas is over I'm ready to go back to NU
I love loot lists - thanks for posting yours, since it was first! Nice haul. Although, doesn't it kind of drive you crazy to get Christmas stuff *for* Christmas, since it means you only get a day to properly enjoy it, then you have to wait almost a year?
