Mmm saucey!

Hey friends-list!

Looking for two things here: onion-less tomato sauce (like Ragu or Prego. But without onions).

Or! An awesome recipe for tomato sauce that you know is awesome (that is, I know I can google it, and have, but something someone else has made and tried and such would be good).

Y'all are awesome.

I make my own tomato sauce, but I don't use a recipe. Or measurements. I just use a few small cans of Dole tomato sauce and the following seasonings to taste: bay leaves, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and a little each of paprika and parsley. I bet that's of NO help.

maybe helpful?

I know that generally if you get the tomato and basil variety of a company's pasta sauce it doesn't have onions...

is this as in "EWW ICKY CRUNCHETY DISGUSTING ONIONS IN MY PASTA SAUCE?" or 0H MY GOD MY THROAT IS SWELLING SHUT, WERE THERE--GASP--ONIONS IN THAT? OMG SOMEBODY GET HER TO THE ER SHE'S CHOKING! NOBODY SAID SHE WAS ALLERGIC!

Cuz there are lots of sauces out there that don't have nasty chunky onion bits, but almost all of the commercial sauces are at least flavored with onions a little bit. I say scour ingredients lists, concentrating on the vodka sauces, basil-and-tomato varieties, etc and staying away from garden vegetable or marinara type sauces... Or you could be a kickass chef and make your own like Jacki.

Yeah, making my own is what I'm leaning towards. But I'd like to have a back-up if I need some in a pinch.

And, yes, it's the allergy sort. Don't know if it's dying-allergy or hives-allergy or trots-allergy, but it's one of them. ;-)
