Bits and Bobs

Richard Schiff has a very distinctive yelling voice. I'm sitting here, watching Ray, and all of a sudden I go "HEY IT'S TOBY!"

Now, this man does not look anything like Toby. This man could've stood in a lineup in the middle of six blond blocks, and I still probably would've picked out of one of the others as Toby.

But I go check out IMDB, and sure as shootin', it's Toby. Damn do I rock at voice recognition.

Anyone who has ever touched my computer knows that I tend to have 20+ tabs open in Mozilla at once, sometimes even 30+. And anyone who's ever used my computer knows it runs slow as shit because of that.

30+ tabs. Enough so that they don't all fit on the screen any more. Links to post or send to friends, stories I was reading, comics waiting for an update, LJ and other sites, all of that.

Well, over the past two days, I've managed to whittle it down to six. Yeah, that's right. In two days I cut away 5/6ths of what was open. I now have a folder for each day of the week on my bookmarks toolbar, with various comics and such in them. Another folder for things that need seeing to, such as stories I was in the middle of reading and websites teaching me how to tie sexy knots.

(Ever need something tied, you come to me. I'm better than a boyscout.)

Yeah. 30 to 6. Damn I'm good when I want to be. And my computer rocks so much harder now.

Shit Has Hit The Fan. Something is rotten in the fandom of Harry Potter, and it's finally come to light. I'm making a giant post with hundreds of links in it in the near future, because it's something everyone needs to see. Everyone involved in fandom, that is.

There is batshit, there are lies and sockpuppets, money and BNFs and rabid fangirls. It's all come to a head after more than three years in a giant expose. This is something that could happen in any fandom, and it needs to be heard.

Does anyone have any good bread recipes? I'm looking for a fluffy white bread that I can basically just tear hunks off of, slap some butter on, and eat.

For cooking equipment, I have my hands, a wooden spoon, a spatula, a hand-held mixer, and various bowls. What I'm trying to say is that if it's a recipe that requires a bread machine or a dough hook, I won't be able to use it.

But I reeeeeally want some of my own bread, especially now that summer's here.

Hi there. I've been keeping up with the recent wank and was looking through [livejournal.com profile] theregoesyamum's flist when I saw you were looking for a good bread recipe.

I'd recommend two, both from King Arthur Flour (http://kingarthurflour.com). Both can be made without any fancy mixing equipment, but the second one does call for some ingredients you might not have on hand, like potato flour or potato flakes. Those make the bread last longer, but aren't necessary and aren't included in the first recipe, Classic Sandwich Bread (http://kingarthurflour.com/recipes/getrecipe.php/id/R425) The second is delicious and just as easy to make, though you may need to buy potato flakes or nonfat dry milk. White Bread 101 (http://kingarthurflour.com/recipes/getrecipe.php/id/R419)

Both are great with butter and a smear of honey. I hope you like them.

Thank you so much!

Ingredients I don't have a problem with getting, just cooking equipment that'll cost more than 20 bucks and not fit in my dorm room properly. :-P

I didn't even think to look at the King Arthur site, which is ridiculous because I have King Arthur flour sitting on my counter. Again, thank you SO MUCH!

You're very welcome and I'm glad you've already heard of KA. They're the bomb of baking. :)
