Even in the basement

I don't know if y'all are aware of this, but it's wicked. friggin'. hot.

It's technically cooler upstairs, because of the A/C, but it's so wet. I feel like I'm wading through water whenever I go up there. It's kind of hot down here, but it's a dry heat, so it's not as bad. Sort of.

Were I a smart person, I'd be sitting up in the rocking chair, knitting. Instead I'm sprawled on the poured cement floor, moving every time the piece that I'm on heats up.

I hate the summer.

WORD.

It turns out I'm not a big fan of air conditioning; I really only like it when I'm doing a lot of activity/I'm working in a hot environment (like work - mmm, coffee brewers, mmm, hot lights). And when it's this hot out, if I didn't have air conditioning I'd be walking around in my underwear, taking five cold showers a day. But I kind of prefer that.

Mmm. Will have to move north. Far north.

SO MUCH WORD TO THAT. I'm thinking the arctic. Or maybe even Antarctica.

[identity profile] emiweebee.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, Antarctica. Actually I want very badly to go there, but that's not necessarily related to year-round coolness.

My parents like to remind me that the farther north you go, though, the more bitey bugs there are.

[identity profile] the-wanlorn.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I like to pretend that the bug thing isn't true. Because really, I'd love to move to Alaska, but skeeters the size of my fist? NOT COOL.

Was Antarctica where they found the still-furred mammoth frozen deep down in the ice? 'Cause if so, I so want to go there for non-cold reasons, too. Sort of. 'Cause if it wasn't cold, there wouldn't be ice mammoths. But you get my point.

[identity profile] emiweebee.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure about the mammoth, but they have an active volcano VISIBLE FROM SPACE, and permanent plane crash debris from an awful accident, and seals and penguins and really neat underice diving if you feel like getting SCUBA certified and diving in freezing water. And swimming away from leopard seals.

*flailI* That last part (before (so really, second-to-last) the leopard seals) is the kicker. NOW I WANT TO GO.

Yeah, so, like, I pretty much hate you. Jus' sayin'.
