Fuck the makers of that documentary for two things:
1. Emphasizing how it's "a way of life in the South..." Oh yes, we're all a bunch of raving rednecks with poofy 80's hair who love seeing little girls prance around dressed like whores. Child divisions of beauty pageants are nationwide. It does happen around here, however the participants are usually high-class wealthy types, not traileriffic white trash as depicted in the documentary.
2. Associating this garbage with the insightful and catchy early 90's country music of Mary Chapin Carpenter.
SHUT UP YOU ARE SO ALL A BUNCH OF RAVING REDNECKS WITH POOFY 80S HAIR.
I did spend most of the documentary thinking those two things sucked. However, I can understand why they did it. Watching rich folks do this bullshit isn't HALF as interesting (in a schadenfreude/trainwreck way) as focusing on a white trash family that really doesn't have the money at ALL to be doing this.
