Bran 2/2006 - 6/2007

Bran, aka littlest!rat, the malnourished partially-toothless broken-nosed runt I adopted from the MSPCA around this time last year, died today.

He was my little Tiny Tim. I don't think I'm every going to stop crying.

Thank the gods I bought a new camera recently. Now I have bajillions of pictures of him from the past month. Before, all I had were pictures from when he and Malachi were babies.

Pretty hard to handle it "well" unless you've no heart at all, I suspect. I've cried myself inside out this last week.

The three days thing is so weird. That's what everyone's told me, and it's what I remember from when other various pets have died.

It's more than weird. It was kinda embarrassing when at the end of the three days mom called to tell me that my cuzin had finally died and I couldn't cry.

I almost forgot... No matter how depressed you feel by his death, remember that your remaining rat depended on Bran a lot more than you did, and now he's desperately lonely and depressed (even though he doesn't know what death is).

Make sure to spend all your free time with him, or in the long term, get him another rat companion.

Oh gods I know. I'm literally spending all my time with him. I mean, I'm sitting in front of my apartment in the car right now (since it's the only place with AC) playing with him.

Right now the thought of getting another rat seems horrible, but in a couple weeks I most likely will, because it's just incredibly not fair to Malachi, especially if he's still alive in January when I go back to work full-time. :(
