On Writing

I keep having a series of bad days in general. Bad, bad days. I think I need to figure out how to divorce my crazydoctor, which will be hard because I've been seeing her for more than a year, I think. And it's kind of hard to say "Uhhhhh I don't think you're helping me. Ever." after sticking with it for that long.

In other news, Writing Down the Bones is an amazing book. I've almost finished it, and I just borrowed it from the library today. It's the least writing-book writing book that I have ever read, and I love it.

I have had to fire a doctor. I simply found a new one, they got my records from the old. End of story. And, grin, easy. If the new doc is the right doc for you, he/she will understand why you felt it was time to make a change. And not feeling like you are being helped? Well, yeah! Time.

If you are unhappy with your current care, you owe it to yourself to take care of yourself...no one else can do that, except you. I would make sure you have a doctor who are happy with first. That can be a challenge--I found one via my pharmacist. :)

I've had to ditch a doctor before about mental health stuff. She was one of those people who didn't want to prescribe meds. Period. She just thought that therapy alone would "fix me" (and yes, she used that phrase specifically). Needless to say, this didn't work out and when she couldn't figure out why I wasn't improving I tried to find someone else. Not to say that meds alone have helped, but still.

You can definitely do it the passive-aggressive and non-confrontational way where you just say, "I'll call to make the next appointment!" and stop showing up. They won't check on you.

Which actually kind of sucks. But it works if you don't want to bring up the issue!

Fire that doctor with great prejudice. Then eat a box of donuts and join a kickboxing class.
