No, I am never going to stop talking about these cupcakes.

HELLO INTERNET. DID I TELL YOU THAT I MADE CUPCAKES? BECAUSE I TOTALLY DID. I used this recipe for the cake itself, and the filling recipe here for the frosting. Allow me to show you!!

FIRST OFF: Have a gander at a practice cupcake! CHECK IT OUT I LEARNED HOW TO MAKE LEAVES. I did not, however, learn how to make rosebuds that did not look horrible. I'm totally going to blame the lack of uber-stiffness of the whipped cream frosting I made, and not the, you know, inability of the decorator.

The actual cupcakes I gave my mum! Or, well, one of them. Again, the drop flower is kind of made of fail, but that one I can legitimately blame on the lack of stiffness of the frosting. I think. I also made a bunch of these for [personal profile] mona's mum! AS ONE DOES WHEN ONE IS FROSTING CUPCAKES WHILE A FRIEND IS OVER.

FINALLY: You guys, my kitchen is so hilariously dangerous to work in. There's only one plug, and it's way over in the corner, across the sink from the actual usable counter space. So this is kind of a problem if you have short cords! If you can't tell what you're looking at, it's my mixer cord attached to an extension cord looping down the cabinets and back up to go into the plug offscreen. Also: a cat. I can not tell you how many times the cats were opening that cabinet and almost knocking shit off the friggin' counter. Plus, it goes right by the stove and is against the oven door so when I am, say, opening it to put cupcakes in, it is kind of worrying.

SPEAKING OF CATS: I was uploading all the photos of origami from the past week from my phone, now that I am in a place where there is enough service to do so. And as I was doing so, I just kept going when I hit the end of the origami photos, and I found all these hilarious photos of my cat from two years ago. SUCH AS:

[livejournal.com profile] maddeinen once sent me a package with cookies and candy and cat toys that she made because she is the best friend ever (yes, if you send me cookies, you are labeled the best friend ever for eternity; I have many best friend evers). That cats fucking loved the toys, and one of them was an octopus! SO CLEARLY, IT IS TIME TO PLAY STUFFONMYCAT:

ALSO. I am the kind of dick who puts clothes on her animals. And by "her animals" I mean "her cat." Largely because it makes me lol. So here is Murphy, waiting to be taken outside (most likely while I was trying to find his leash):

I ASSURE YOU, INTERNET, HE LOVES IT.

I hope you all are having a totally awesome Mother's Day!

STUFF ON THE CAT. That is a great game. And a great octopus! I've got a friend with a cat and I totally wish I was better at yarnwork so I could present her with a little yarn octopus.

Dude, respect your frosting skills! Some of us just kinda slop some sugary stuff on there and call it a day. I think the drop flower is nice. :)
