Fandom Snowflake, Challenge #1
GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS
is it time for my yearly promise that I will post here more, starting with the Snowflake Challenge, only to abandon DW again sometime in February?
Yes.
Challenge #1
The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it.
Hello, y'all know me as
the_wanlorn but my friends call me Erin. You can call me Erin too.
Ope, that was a trick. We're friends now. No take-backsies.
I like doing the Snowflake Challenge because it reminds me DW exists and that we used to be a fandom that read each other's diaries. Those were the days amirite? :( I miss those days, but probably not enough to remember to keep posting post-February. Yanno?
I hope to gain new friends (✅!) and remind myself that posting can be good, actually. Maybe even fun. Maybe even something to do all year long! I can feel it: this is the year I don't quit.

I've hit the point of the dismal media hosting shit available that I'm just hosting images on my dreamhost server and doing img tags from those. But like, every one of my comments/entries is crafted with artisanal HTML, not the rich text editor, so.
But yeah. Any kind of like. idk, community engagement? idk what to call it that doesn't sound like a bullshit marketing term. But yeah, that-all has been awful this year compared to previous years. It sucks ass.

About the only place I get any response these days is bsky. Usually on FB if I do an image heavy post it will get through but nada. It's so disheartening.

I knit things for myself and like. As gifts. But when I post pictures it's because I want someone to tell me how pretty I am (figuratively. How pretty my project is. Whatever.) So I just don't post pics much anymore because yeah! It's disheartening!
And like. Do you know you're really good at quilting? If you do, this is not relevant, but if you don't: I can't even imagine how disheartening it would be if I weren't up my own ass about what a good knitter I am! It would make me feel like I was shit at it because if I was good, people would tell me!
(Yeah yeah external validation bad internal validation good I do not care give me that sweet sweet external validation.)
