Fandom Snowflake, Challenge #6

Challenge #6

Top 10 Challenge.

I can't even think of ten things that I eat regularly??? Never even mind fandom things??? Shit.

Top 10 Reasons to Watch Debris (and Write Me Fic)
  1. I love it, which, really, should be all you need to know because my taste is impeccable.

  2. It's bad scifi, but in the fun kind of way.

  3. There is so much chemistry between Bryan and Finola.

  4. There are so many secrets.

  5. Nothing is explained. Like ever. It is ripe for fic explaining things.

  6. The episodes are so totally out of order. I refuse to believe anything else. You, too, can join me in this conspiracy theory and try to sort out a reasonable order.

  7. I can watch it while I'm high. Most TV shows and movies and youtube and everything, when I'm high, I get intensely aware that everyone is acting. Like it ruins my suspension of disbelief so bad. There are two (2) shows I can rewatch when I'm high without my suspension of disbelief being ruined, and one of them is Debris.

  8. The ending is so open. So so so open. It is primed for another season or like. So much fic speculating where they were going.

  9. Multiverse shenanigans. Just, I can not describe them without major spoilers, but you will know it when you see it and you, too, will be like muchsthescream.jpg.

  10. The story of the penguin and the soldier. It will make you insane. You will listen to it and it will forever change your brain pathways. It will live rent-free in your head for all time.

Okay uh that was easier than I thought.

Hello! I just wanted to say you make a very convincing set of arguments for someone like me, who LOVES fun bad sci-fi shows with debatable episode order, where nothing is explained, and which (looking it up) were cancelled after one season. I will add Debris to my (long as hell, sorry about that part) watchlist because of your entertaining post. You have a great way with words. The show must have been cooking.

Oh, man! So I looked up the show runner, J.H. Wyman, to find he was also a show runner for Fringe and Almost Human (two shows which have been recommended to me - see what I mean about a long watchlist?), AND that he started as an actor and was an important guest star in one of my very favorite episodes of Highlander! Like, what are the odds?

Also, Almost Human had a pretty big slash fandom for its lead partners, from what I understand, so it's possible Wyman's concepts for a "deep platonic bond" need a little retooling, if he's routinely failing to convince his audiences in this manner. :)

Anyway, all this to say, this random goldmine of research did bump this show considerably higher up my list. And I see it even got some kind of DVD release, albeit hard to find. So I will keep an eye out! And someday I will report back!

And will subscribe to you in the meanwhile (part of Snowflake is to make new friends, right?).
