Jolly Ol' December
Since about halfway through junior year (at which point Menard's Menardness became as normal as the stairs that went to nowhere), I haven't had a Holy Fuck WEIRD teacher moment. Then yesterday in CS class (in which there was a test that I believe I failed mightily) I was relaxing in a seat, waiting for class to start, and reading the book Bethany leant me. Mr. CS Teacher came over to wear I was sitting and proceeded to converse with me about the book. And talking about when he read it, he didn't particularly like it. A nice little conversation. About Green Rider. The link, I believe, explains why it was so weird that this middle-adged, balding, male CS teacher was talking to me about it. I saw the most beautiful sight today. Before class, I decided to go Christmas shopping and hopped into my car and struck out down 146. Above me, as far as I could see, the clouds were roiling in gray anger, sobbing out their frustration to the world below (I learned what it feels like when your car hydroplanes, and as a byproduct learned that going 80 down 146 in the rain isn't all that wise). This mass of darkness continued on as I drove, never relenting its tortuous colour changes and grieving tears. Then it was blue. I saw the storm end. The clouds suddenly stopped, only a few small white whisps trailing out behind their might. The space that opened after it was the most gorgeous cerulean blue. Sunlight danced through drenched trees to play across the sheen of water on the pavement. Rain, which was coming down in torrential sheets mere moments before, abruptly ended. The world around me was bright, fresh, new. Too bad there wasn't anyone in the car to share it with. That storm completely reminded me why I love storms in general. Seeing a heavy rainstorm end is spectacular. Watching a thunderstorm end is magnificent. And the end of a snowstorm is beyond belief. :-) Remembering little things like that make me glad I'm alive. In other news, I'm almost used to my new super-small screen resolution. I believe that tomorrow I shall go for super-super small. |
